Charlotte Personal Trainers
Personal Trainer Jonathan Avalos
Originally from Texas, I moved to Charlotte after graduating from Texas A&M. As an athlete in High School as well as in College I played Football and ran Track. I was always passionate about sports and health which finally led me to pursue my Exercise Science degree. During my time in college I was training people on the side and loved helping them achieve their goals, see their transformation and experience the joy that came with it. After coming to Charlotte in 2009 I started working at a local gym but felt too detached from my clients since I was doing primarily personal training sales. Reorienting myself to my original goals I started working at Shape Up Fitness & Wellness Consulting.
I love the challenges and variety people bring with them, whether that be injuries or goals. Personal training is my way of giving something back to the community and helping people transform physically as well as spiritually. It is an amazing experience to see someone who was completely out of shape drop their first 10 lbs or do their first push up or chin up.
Sincerely
Jonathan Avalos
Head Trainer and Owner Michael Anders
Michael Anders has been the owner and head trainer of Shape Up Fitness & Wellness Consulting since it was founded in
2005. His Master’s Degree in Sports Science by the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany as well as his personal training certifications make him an expert in his field. He specializes in weight loss in close cooperation with his clients’ health care professionals as well as in reintegrating and rehabilitating people back into a healthy fitness and lifestyle.
“Many clients who come to a personal trainer seek to lose weight. My goal is to have them succeed with fun, and motivate them to enjoy a healthier lifestyle so that the change becomes permanent. It is not my goal to get someone fit just for that person to get back on the couch and regain all that weight!”
Sincerely,
Michael Anders

Personal Trainer Tyson Obrecht
“Hello, my name is Tyson Obrecht.
I grew up in Baltimore Maryland and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina after graduating from Roanoke College in Virginia. My passion for health and fitness began at a very young age, when I was faced with a large obstacle. I broke my femur in a car accident and had to endure a long, painful recovery. I was unable to do anything active and it required me to live a very sedentary lifestyle. While recovering from this accident, I developed a greater appreciation for the ability to just walk out your door and go for a run, the ability to do anything active. This set-back also made me realize and truly appreciate the importance of being healthy and strong.
Once I fully recovered I began training for my first marathon and have now run seven marathons. I also wanted to help other people get back in shape and make them feel the euphoria after a great workout. I got certified through NASM and began teaching kickboxing at U.S. Martial Arts Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. I taught there for three years before going to college. While in College, I taught various aerobic and resistance training classes at the YMCA. I have been doing one-on-one personal training for over a year now and I absolutely love what I do.
To see my clients achieve their goals, whether it is dropping 3 sizes, shaving off their mileage time, or gaining a great amount of strength, is one of the most gratifying feelings. I truly enjoy building strong relationships with my clients and making sure that we achieve each and every one of their goals. Witnessing all of my clients success stories as well as my own, I honestly believe that the human body is capable of anything as long as you remain focused and determined on the task at hand.”
Sincerely,
Tyson Obrecht
