Have you considered going barefoot?

I don’t know about you but I have noticed especially in the last couple of years a change in training. Once we were using the most sophisticated machines, the most hi-tech running shoes etc. This has changed. The emphasis in training should went from highly guided motions by machines to functional movements. The results are incredible and the use of machines has been reduced to a few that support that kind of training.

In running a similar development has occurred. Especially with the book “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougal running barefoot came to the front more and more. People started running in minimalist shoes and barefoot. What was the result? People got injured.

So, was running barefoot wrong? No, it was not, but it was not right either. It is important to go easy on your training and train up muscles that have not been used before. I will post more later.

Good night,

Michael

Michael, I couldn’t agree with you more!! The muscles in the feet and ankles have been babied for so long it will take a gradual progression to get them strong enough to run and perform like you can with cushioned “boots” that some people have for athletic shoes.
